Aww man, I just found out that one of my favorite rappers GURU (Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal) passed away in April. He rose to fame as founder of GANG STAR but his 1993 solo album “Guru’s Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1” is one of a handful of records that changed my life. While a lot of Hip Hop artists sampled Jazz records, he actually brought the musicians into the studio to play with the Hip-Hop including Donald Byrd and Roy Ayers. I’ve always loved Guru’s voice and he will be missed…
