The Now Denial

Posted on: August 21, 2008

An pissed-off punch in the face! The Now-Denial are a hardcore/punk “all star” group from Germany, their members played in so much famous and important hardcore/screamo groups, the list reads like the hall of fame for western german hardcore: Enfold, Hybris, Buoyancy, Hocus, Durango 95, to name such a few.

First just a project of some friends as a result of the love for harshed and pissed-off hardcore, the Now-Denial soon became a “serious” band and they released a split 7inch with european punk legend Seein´ Red from the Netherlands (ex-Members from Man Lifting Banner and Lärm) on tomtetummetott records. The very small, but important label from singer Søren, who releases always lovely done records.

In fall 2002 the debut record “the truth is on fire followed”, heavily Tragedy and His Hero Is Gone influenced tuned down hardcore, pissed off and angry. A very good start for a band.

The Now-Denial – the truth is on fire

Extensive touring spread their fuck you message around Europe and after another split 7inch, this time with old school trash heroes Highscore (don´t know, you have to check em out!) they released in 2004 the follow up: “viva viva threatening”

The song writing much improvised The Now-Denial reached the same high level like the bands which influenced them when started, but now they added a lot more own sound. The second album also reached international attention and let their reputation grow massively. If you saw them live once, you won´t forget them I promise!

The latest record is “mundane lullaby”, a killer record. Now with a more rocking edge the band sets free a furios bastard that finds the perfect balance of pissed off, but catchy guitar melodies and ass kicking uptempo rhythms. The singer is like a fire storm and the lyrics are pure declarations of war on the state of our society. You might spare out the debut and also the second record, but you have to get this. Dance, smash, an emotional outburst – too sweet to be punk, too punk to be hardcore, too hardcore to be crust, too cynical to be anything at all!
