Jneiro Jarel – three piece puzzle

Posted on: November 13, 2007

“To me, in this modern-day music, everybody’s doing the same thing. It’s like, claustrophobic. I need some space to breathe man!”

Brooklyn-born producer Jneiro Jarel; grown up in Houston, returned to NY, discovered by Hank Shocklee (Public Enemy), now living in Phylli; needs some space to breathe to realize his enormaly creative ideas. To geht this review start fast, here are some keywords: Native Tongue, Madlib, Roy Ayers and Underground, which is meant in the way of creativity, non-conformity, fun – all realized perfectly by this one man band (mc, dj, prodcuer) with his several guests. Head-nodders, odes to jazz, vibe-synthesizers, soul, slow-motion bass, airy and organic sound, cosmic electronic groove – JJ explores territories that are quite foreign territory for most hip-hoppers today, an awesome genre-hopping album that is both instrumental and rhymed on.

If you don´t know Jneiro Jarel by now, you have to investigate his mighty talent now and look out for Dr.Who and Shape Of Broad Minds, some alter egos from Jneiro.

“All heads rejoice – real underground hip-hop is back, and Jneiro is leading the way”
