Inside Out – no spiritual surrender

Posted on: October 14, 2007

Another band which left a great impact on punk&hardcore music with only a single 7inch released (1990), they gone down in history with these originally four songs, later for the CD version two more songs were added. Inside Out from California are full of rage and anger, the record crackles with intensity, right from the very first track. This EP is possibly the most popular release ever on famous Revelation Records:

Intelligent and introspective lyrics combined with one of the most intense and heartfelt vocal performances ever captured on a hardcore record make this a must have for any fan of the genre.

The band built with some other bands the foundation for the evolving new school sound, from which later bands like Swing Kids gone further. Inside Out planned to record a full length album with the working title “Rage against the Machine”, but split up before that. The singer founded a new band some month later and took the never recorded Inside Out tracks with him. This new band changed the songs a lot, but some fragments of their debut came from Inside Out. The new band was Rage Against The Machine, Zack de la Rocha the singer from both bands.

15 essential minutes.
