Visioneers – dirty old hip hop

Posted on: October 10, 2007

Marc Mac doesn´t need a introduction, member of legendary electronic-jazz duo 4 Hero and producer of several groundbreaking records. The Visioneers project aims to bring the jazz back to hip hop – and vice versa.

Jazz used to be radical, that’s why hip hop producers used to sample it and rappers rhymed on it. I want to put Jazz back in the hands of hip hoppers” – Marc Mac

The songs are hommages to producers like Jay Dee, Jazzy Jeff or Pete Rock, covering with his band some classical tracks of hip hop, soul and funk history. Nas´ “the world is yours”, Pharcyde´s “running”, Isaac Hayes´ “Ike´s Mood I”, “dirty old Bossa Nova” from the Howard Roberts Quartet. All played with a live instrumentation and very chilling, most non-vocal, only a few with guest vocals from Capitol A and Voice. This records lets a day of hard work fade away, to start a musical journey instead, sounding so special and luminous as few other things these days.
