The Explosion – s/t

Posted on: September 25, 2007

“We don´t give a fuck!”

I like the raw energy of a good punkrock album and The Explosion are on of the very best. The best punk records are short in play, but should shock you in all senses, a denial of everything, don´t give a fuck. So I love all the classic 7-inches, the same titled EP from The Explosion is not that classic (from 1999), but conserves the “good ol´times” (Stiff Little Fingers and The Adicts, to name just a few of a dozen) without being conservative and just copying – The Explosion are fresh. No song longer than two and a half minutes, straight in your face and with a snotty attitude.

With their rifle-fast drumming, twin seething guitars, tough-as-hell bass, and oppositional, anthemic, profanity-laced vocals, The Explosion challenges you to sit still in your chair. Don’t bother trying — you can’t.

“there´s a fire in this town tonite – youth explosion!”
