North West Metropolis – Expressions EP

Posted on: August 5, 2007

Today was a sunny day, after too many days with a lot of rain falling down, not too hot with warm summer breezes. After a day with nothing to do I came home and kept on relaxing, looking at the street life from my wide opened window. The only thing I worried about was which music I wanted to listen to and North West Metropolis came to my mind – the Expression EP, a perfect expression of my condition. Laid-back beats, catchy melodies, chilling flows of different MCs – the soundtrack for a perfect summer day when the sun already sinks.

Omar Rey (ex-The Proov) and Perquisite met each other first in a local recordstore in the summer 2002. They were both pretty much into the same thing, they soon decided to do a project together. Producer Ane joined force, CeeMajor (The Proov), Pete Philly (ex-Nicotine) and Kain Slim (False Chordz) were invited to participate. North West Metropolis was born, Amsterdam´s finest. The front-cover shows the Spaarndammer social housing project in the North Western part of Amsterdam from Michel de Klerk (1916), an important dutch architect of Expressionism and the “Amsterdam School“. North West Metropolis don´t found a new musical “Amerstdam School”, but they do their own thing very well and it isn´t dubios that North West Metropolis reach high international standards. The Roots meet Asheru And Blue Black Of The Unspoken Heard meets J-Live meets Foreign Exchange….. mmh yeah, but in the first place North West Metropolis are North West Metropolis.

5 tracks as a proof of a lifely music scene in Amsterdam. Explore it!
